rules and regulations
  1. Classes are open flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon & saxophone. Please specify instrument of choice on the entry form. Classes will be grouped according to instrument.
  2. Music must be provided for the adjudicator and accompanist. This music must be original or an authorized copy from the publisher. In cases where a competitor has not memorized their selection, music must be presented to the adjudicator immediately following their performance.
  3. Performance time for each selection must be stated on the entry form. Please time your selection accurately. Time limits will be enforced. Memorization of selections is optional.
  4. Contemporary Composers include 20th Century, 21st Century, and Impressionist.
  5. Competitors must provide their own accompanist. Accompanists may be professional or amateur.
  6. Eligibility for trophies, plaques and scholarships under $200 will be based on fulfilling the specific requirement listed in each award criteria.
  7. To be eligible for scholarships of $200 and over, candidates must compete in at least two classes in the same discipline.
  8. Entries will be reviewed for appropriate placement levels and should be based on the two Canadian Conservatory systems. The following Syllabi will help to provide selection suggestions:
    a) Royal Conservatory of Music
    b) Conservatory Canada
    c) Associate Board of the Royal Schools of Music
    d) London College of Music

  2. Music must be provided for the adjudicator and accompanist. This music must be original or an authorized copy from the publisher. In cases where a competitor has not memorized their selection, music must be presented to the adjudicator immediately following their performance.

  4. Contemporary Composers include 20th Century, 21st Century, and Impressionist.
  5. Competitors must provide their own accompanist. Accompanist may be professional or amateur except in Sonata classes in which the accompanist must be an amateur. In Sonata classes, the accompanist and soloist will be judged together.
  6. Memorization is optional in ensemble selections.

  8. To be eligible for scholarships of $200 and over, candidates must compete in at least two classes in the same discipline.

Classes are limited to one selection except for Concert Group Classes, which are limited to three selections. Time limits will be enforced.
