About Us
The Richmond Music Festival is a registered, non-profit charity dedicated to music development through the areas of performance, instruction, appreciation and presentation. The Festival was founded in 1998 by a group of local music teachers and presented the first Richmond Music Festival in 1999 as a weeklong event in Piano, Voice and Strings.
Since inception, the festival has grown dramatically, and now hosts a nearly month long event each November in Piano, Voice, Strings and Woodwinds and culminates with a Gala Showcase Concert. Thousands of audience, come to enjoy and learn at the festival free of charge, daily throughout the month.
Top adjudicators are brought in from all over the country and internationally to work with participants in developing their musical skills and the festival gives away thousands of dollars each year in scholarships, bursaries and awards to participants. The festival also presents many more free concert showcases throughout the year, and also partners with other organizations in producing community aid events.
